Developing ecotourism in Georgia. What on Earth Georgia, ep. 12
Developing ecotourism in Georgia
“Georgians are a very hospitable nation, which is of great value for tourism development. But the goal should not be to bring more backpackers in but to control the amount of visitors and make the most of those, who come”, stays Olaf Malver, an expert and a consultant on ecotourism in Georgia.
Olaf Malver is the founder of adventure travel company Explorers´ Corner, who is also helping to develop ecotourism in Georgia. He travelled the World, led kayaking tours across the seven seas, visited more than 80 countries, including Greenland or Antarctica, and nowadays he explores Georgian mountains, searching for places undiscovered not only by tourists, but by people in general.
As a consequence of that, he has also seen the impact of climate change with his own eyes. Together, we speak about his experiences and perspective on the strategies that could help Georgia develop into a modern, democratic country. According to him, environment should be one of the top priorities in that process.
