Bidzina Ivanishvili

Bidzina Ivanishvili (born in 1956) is a billionaire and the ex-prime minister of Georgia (October 2012 – November 2013). He is the founder and leader of the Georgian Dream party, which has been the ruling party in Georgia since winning the parliamentary elections on October 1, 2012.

 

Ivanishvili has not held any governmental post since November 2013, when he resigned as prime minister. However, in both Georgia and abroad, he is called the shadow leader of the country. The highest Georgian officials and Georgian Dream members openly consult with him before making important decisions.

 

Bidzina Ivanishvili is the only Georgian billionaire on the Forbes list of World Billionaires. In 2019, his total assets amounted to $4.9 billion. He earned the majority of his capital in Russia in the 1990s.
