Eco-village is a model for better future. What on Earth Georgia, ep. 11
Eco-village is a model for a better future in Georgia
“World is going in the wrong direction and the solution needs to be found at the local level. The government is not solving the problems, so it needs to come from people”, say the members of International Eco-Community Project in Caucasus. Their aim is to create an eco-movement that would promote the idea of sustainable and environmentally friendly living.
One of the steps that the movement wishes to take is the establishment of an eco-village in Georgia – an intentional, traditional, or urban community with the goal of becoming more socially, culturally, economically, and ecologically sustainable. This village should serve as a model for social changes in the Caucasus. “The idea is living in a community with minimum negative impact and maximum positive impact on the land we are sharing”, explains Mika Davidashvili, one of the founders of Georgia’s grassroots movement.
