Georgian Deputy Minister of Agriculture diagnosed with coronavirus
Georgian Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Yuri Nozadze has been confirmed as a carrier of the new coronavirus.
The official contracted the virus from his son, who had come into contact with an infected Italian man.
“On March 10, after repeated testing, presence of the coronavirus COVID-19 was detected in Deputy Minister Yuri Nozadze. Because one of his family members had been diagnosed with coronavirus COVID-19 last Thursday, Nozadze had been in isolation. The result of the initial test was negative. The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture continues to be treated under doctor supervision.
It should be noted that epidemiologists assure us that, based on the period of contact, there is clearly no health threat to the employees who came into contact with him,” the Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement.
Yuri Nozadze was one of 23 patients in whom the new coronavirus was detected during laboratory tests in Georgia.
