Son of informal leader of Georgia intends to give more than $1mln to save Amazon forests
The son of Georgian billionaire, former Prime Minister of Georgia and leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili, musician and producer Bera Ivanishvili, intends to give a million USD to the Amazon Fund.
Bera announced the news in a video published on his Instagram page.
“Fire is destroying the lungs of our planet, our life and the future of our children. This is a call to action. Today I want to help my Brazilian friends .. Despite the fact that I live thousands of miles away, my Brazilian fans treat me … as a family member. In the spirit of such love, I want to help them as much as possible…
“I have decided to donate 1.1 million dollars. These are savings earned by my hard work, as well as the contribution of my family. I urge you all to participate and act. Any contribution, regardless of quantity, is significant and important. Together we can make change. Thank you and God bless you”, Bera says in his video.
The video of the son of the informal leader of the country has given rise to a stream of controversial comments on Facebook.
Georgian Facebook users remind Bere Ivanishvili that his own country is suffering from widespread unemployment, poverty and other problems, including environmental ones, that worry Georgia and ask the question “why is he helping Brazil and not his own country?”
