Six people injured in Baku elevator accident
An elevator fell down a shaft late on 13 July in a Baku high-rise building. The elevator’s cable broke when the elevator was at the seventh floor. Six people were injured, including children and adolescents. Some were taken to the hospital with fractures while others were helped on the scene.
The residents say that the elevator has long been defective and had already fallen once two months ago.
No official response has been received regarding the incident. The reasons for the cable breaking are unknown.
The incident took place in a new building, providing little time for the elevator cable to wear.
Similar accidents have taken place in Baku before. In 2016, an elevator fell in a seven-story building, injuring eight.
