Six people were detained by Moscow police on February 27 night by the “people`s memorial to Boris Nemtsov” on Bolshoy Zamoskvoretsky Bridge. The activists were on duty to prevent memorial`s defilement. They were later let free.
Four police cars arrived to the venue, then seven “Gormost” cars that took away the flowers and the portraits. According to Radio Svoboda five activists were detained on the bridge another one elsewhere an hour later.
On February 26 the march in memory of Boris Nemtsov, who had been killed two years ago on the Zamoskvoretsky Bridge near the Kremlin, took place in Moscow. The participants walked from the Strastnoy boulevard to the Cakharov Avenue then on to the bridge to lay flowers. The organizers claim 15 000 participants, the police – about 5 000.
Five Сhechen natives were arrested on the case of Nemtsov murder. Another suspect Beslan Shavanov was shot down at the moment of detention. The defendants pledge not guilty, though some of them confessed earlier. The trial started in the Moscow District Military Court in October 2016. Investigators consider the killing was ordered by Ruslan Mukhutdinov, aСhechen battalion “North” serviceman, now hiding abroad. Nemtsov`s followers believe the charges were brought against the executors, not the organizers of the crime.
