Sale of Abkhaz passport for $10k lands Ukrainian citizen, Abkhaz MIA official in jail
Abkhaz Police Colonel Vadim Kvadzba has been dismissed from his position as the acting head of the passport department of the Abkhazian Ministry of Internal Affairs and arrested for illegally producing an Abkhazian passport and selling it for $10,000 to a Ukrainian citizen.
Oleg Myltsev was detained and found in possession of this passport while crossing the Psou checkpoint on the border between Russia and Abkhazia. Police say several other employees of the passport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were also involved in the case and are now under further investigation.
The charges against Kvadzba may include abuse of an official position, illegal issuance of a passport by a citizen of the Republic of Abkhazia, and aiding and abetting a crime.
