Russian Supreme Court bans Jehovah’s Witnesses
The Russian Supreme Court has found that the Jehovah’s Witnesses Administrative Center was an extremist organization and banned its activity. Under the court ruling, the aforesaid organization should be eliminated, and its assets transferred to the government.
The organization officials claim that they are going to challenge the court ruling.
— Jehovah’s Witnesses Administrative Center is the central body of the organization in Russia. Having shut down the organization, the court actually put a halt to the activity of the followers in this religion.
— The Russian Justice Ministry was the first to ban the organization’s activity in March this year. According to Justice Ministry officials, the organization had been disseminating extremist literature. Following this, the case was submitted to court.
