Over 1 500 protesters detained in Russia
On 5 May protests took place in over 90 Russian cities under the slogan “He is no tsar”, organized by opposition leader Alexei Navalny in anticipation of Vladimir Putin`s inauguration on 7 May.
The biggest rallies were attended by over 5 000 participants and took place in Moscow, St Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.
Human rights organization OVD-inform reported that 572 protesters were detained in Moscow, while 1 348 were detained in total.
Alexei Navalny was also detained just minutes after he appeared at the rally.
