Large amount of cash stolen in Armenian bank robbery
Armed individuals broke into a bank located in Yerevan’s central street, getting away with a huge amount of cash.
Preliminary reports from Armenian police indicate that two unknown individuals broke into the VTB Bank in Bagramyan street. They threatened bank staff with guns and stole a large sum in different currencies totaling AMD 8.5 million (approximately USD 17 500).
The criminals haven’t been identified yet. According to the police, identification and search activities are underway. The crime scene has been searched and the bank’s CCTV footage has been seized. A criminal case has been launched.
According to bank officials neither the bank staff nor clients were injured in the robbery.
