Dangerous chicken meat sold on Armenian markets
A delivery of chicken meat has been discovered in Armenia that is dangerous for people’s health and unfit for human consumption.
Laboratory test results presented by the State Food Safety Service indicated the presence of salmonella and listeria within the chicken meat, both being agents of intestinal infection.
The products came to Armenia from three countries:
- Brazil
- Russia
- Ukraine
The leader of the civic organization Informed and Protected Consumers Babken Pipoyan noted that the chicken meat made it onto the market due to the neglect of neglect of state officials.
“If there are no people in the agricultural sphere that understand just what kind of threat this is then the Ministry of Health should have at least explained to the executive authorities that this cannot go on, that people are at risk. In any normal country, after such a scandal people would not only be fired from their positions but they would also be charged with criminal offenses.”
It is still unknown just what actions will be taken by the government in order to punish the importers of the dangerous chicken meat. It is, however, clear that the product which was discovered in import companies’ storage facilities have been seized and will be taken out of stores and destroyed.
