Armenian citizens’ fingerprints to be included in the electronic electoral rolls
At the government sitting on Thursday, March 9, it was decided to allocate AMD 3 million (approximately US $6,000) from the government’s reserve funds for procurement of necessary equipment and development of the voter fingerprint electronic base ahead of the April parliamentary elections.
According to Vardan Yeghizaryan, Armenia’s Deputy Police Chief, a corresponding fingerprint e-base will be included in the electoral rolls.
The aim of the database software is to export to the electoral rolls in relevant format the voter fingerprints, i.e. their images, from the Armenian citizens’ biometric passport and ID database, available at the police.
