Mate Mamulashvili – the boy who is in love with Telavi

In Telavi, a town in Georgia’s Kakheti region, everybody knows eight-grader Mate – most of all, for his singing talent.

He sings, paints and dreams to become a movie director. He has already started filming his first movie, using his mobile phone. It’s going to be about friendship. His next film will be about Telavi.

Telavi often features in his paintings. And, overall, this boy is crazy in love with his hometown.

His outstanding skills and successes at school are why he was awarded the TBC scholarship. Mate’s plans for his future are ambitious. “I need to do something for my country”, he says.
