Dismissed head of Rustavi 2 promises to launch new TV channel
Former Director General of opposition minded Rustavi 2 TV channel Nika Gvaramia has announced he intends to launch a new TV channel, which will become, in his words, “the main and best [channel] in Georgia.”
Nika Gvaramia was fired from his position at Rustavi 2 on July 18, after the television company came under former ownership due to a court order.
Gvaramia had led Rustavi 2, one of the country’s most popular channels, for seven years.
Gvaramia wrote on his Facebook page that he had consulted with professionals and potential investors both inside and outside the country.
“It was decided: together with several partners we will make the main and best television channel in this country. Better than the one that until now was considered the best”, wrote Gvaramia.
