"Checkmate", a short film about a happy couple in Armenia

Levon and Gayane Akopyan had a church wedding and have since never parted. They say they have never even quarrelled.

This couple is quite something to marvel at – he is deaf, she is blind. But this does not stop them from staying happy, as either shares with the other what they have – he’s become her ears, and she is, effectively, his eyes. This way, helping each other, they play chess, paint, read and even go to art exhibitions.
