An assault took place in the Gudauta region of Abhazia, leaving one person killed and another injured. Two families from Moscow – Anatoly and Natalia Kabanov, as well as Natalia and Nikolai Chezhikov and their three children – were resting in a camping area when two unidentified men in black masks came up to them, one armed with a gun, the other with a knife, and demanded money – a source in law enforcement agencies told JAMnews.
“One of the adults, under the pretext of going to get the requested money, went to call the police. In the meantime, the other man who had been taken hostage, resisted the criminals and was killed,” the source said. According to him, the victim who tried to call the police and who returned to the scene, also tried to resist and was subsequently stabbed and taken to hospital. The Abkhazian Ministry of Internal Affairs told JAMnews’ correspondent that the entire forested area between the sea and the highway has been cordoned off.
According to law enforcement agencies, the criminals, having released the hostages, fled the scene. Investigative measures are underway at the crime scene to reveal any details.
