Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko killed in Kiev

According to Hromadskoe Russian opposition journalist Arkadi Babchenko has been killed in Kyiv.

An unknown individual shot Babchenko three times in the back as he was returning home. Babchenko passed away in an ambulance en route to hospital.

Arkady Babchenko covered the war in the Donbass for Novaya Gazeta, and before that the South Ossetian war in 2008.

He left Russia in February 2017. Babchenko said that he was being pressured by the Russian authorities, which motivated him to leave. He had lived in Kyiv since August 2017.
