Open the fridge

A new social fridge has opened in Tbilisi – each hungry person can get some food from this public fridge free of charge
Any person can put food into the fridge and practice shows, there is no lack of such people.

The first social fridge has been functioning successfully in Gori town for already a month. According to the initiators of this idea – volunteers of the “Droa organization, the fridge in a small Gori town is replenished several times a day and is emptied with the same frequency.

The number of people, willing to put food into the fridge, is no less than the addressees of this aid: empathic people from the whole city come to the fridge.

The project owes its popularity to the social networks. As soon as there came reports about Gori fridge, almost each city expressed in this or that form its wiliness to immediately install such a fridge.

“Orbeliani Sakartvelo organization has funded the project both, in Gori and Tbilisi.

All funds, raised by volunteers, were used for purchase and installation of refrigerators. One of the banks covers the electric power costs. As for food, it is bought by the city residents – that’s the main idea of the project.
