“Nigh Serenades": From Bichvinta to Anaklia
“Night Serenades: As close to Abkhazia as can be There was an open air classical music festival with title held in Anaklia castle during the last days of summer.
The first “Night Serenades festival was held in Bichvinta in 1982 on the initiative of Liana Isakadze, a renowned violinist and conductor. It was conducted annually in Abkhazia until 1991. 8 years ago the festival was revived in Batumi, Ajara. This year the festival is being hosted by for the first time Anaklia, in the Samegrelo region.
Liana Isakadze, from the World Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos, and César Álvarez performed classical music masterpieces during the event.
Liana Isakadze told journalists following the concert that along with the orchestra she “expressed the sorrow, pain and loss that the people of Georgia have when they think about Abkhazia.
“I am very glad that the concert was held in Anaklia, near Bichvinta, where the history of the festival first began in 1982. In Binchvinta, the concert was held in a church and the hall was always packed with people.
