Monument to Fazil Iskander in Moscow made by Abkhazian sculptor
A new monument dedicated to Fazil Iskander will be revealed in Moscow.
The monument, in honour of the famous author which was made by a well known Abkhazian sculptor Marina Eshba back in 1966, will be placed at his grave at Novodevichye Cemetry in Moscow.
The monument will be revealed on 31 July 2017, commemorating the day last year when Fazil Iskander passed away.
The ceremony will be attended by family members and various literary associations’ representatives. Also, representatives of the Russian government, Moscow administration and the Abkhazian government were invited to attend.
-Fazil Iskander passed away in July, 2016 at the age of 87.
-The Russian Drama Theatre in Sukhum has been named after Fazil Iskander. The state commission on memory perpetuation is still functioning.
