Khadija Ismayilova was earlier sentenced to seven and a half years on false charges, but conditionally released in 2016

The Azerbaijani authorities should lift the travel ban on well-known investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova, international NGOs Censorship Index, Reporters Without Borders and Transparency International demanded on January 15.

Ismayilova was detained in December 2014 and sentenced in September 2015 to seven and a half years in prison on trumped-up charges. She was conditionally released in May 2016, but after three and a half years she still cannot leave the country.
