Azerbaijan, Turkey close border due to coronavirus

Azerbaijan and Turkey will temporarily close the border and ban air and land travel to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan decided on this measure during a telephone conversation on March 14. It will enter into force at midnight on March 15.
Thus, Azerbaijan has only one open border with a neighboring state – the border with Russia.
Currently, the total number of infected in Azerbaijan is 19 people. Of these, six have recovered, one died.
In Turkey, so far the number of coronavirus infections only stands at two.
