Armenian President: Military and political relations between the CSTO members are of high priority
“A communique was adopted as part of the CSTO back in 2000, under which military and political relations between the CSTO member-states are of priority nature as compared to the contacts and ties with the third states not considered as CSTO members, Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, stated during his official visit to Moscow.
Armenian President stressed that violation of this principle doesn’t contribute to boosting the organization’s reputation, whereas the treaties should be observed in full and be implemented not selectively, depending on the situation.
The organization that aims to ensure security of its member-states doesn’t actually perform its function: namely, it failed to render assistance to Kyrgyzstan during the revolution there, when the president of that country appealed for help to the CSTO in 2010. The organization in no way proved effective during the escalation of the Karabakh conflict, both, in summer-autumn 2015, as well as during the April developments in 2016.
