Armenia reports a growth in imports and exports
Armenia reported a growth in domestic trade turnover in January this year. According to official data, there was a 45.2% growth in exports in the reporting period compared with the same period last year. The total value of exports from Armenia was USD 176.7 million. The Armenian government views export as a primary means of ensuring the country’s economic growth.
There has been a growth in export rates in the following fields:
- The mining industry;
- The manufacturing of finished products, including brandy, wine and cigarettes;
- Precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and articles thereof;
- Non-precious metals and articles thereof.
There was also a 48.9% growth in import rates in Armenia in January this year, compared with the same period last year.
Mining products account for the largest share of Armenia’s total exports and imports, with imports exceeding exports.
Armenia’s top imports include vehicles, equipment and machinery, as well as finished food products.
