One of the 11 people killed in the St Petersburg metro blast on Monday was an Azerbaijani student named Dilbara Samandarovna Aliyeva.
On a list published by Russia’s Ekho Moskvy, her name was originally given as Aliyeva Tamara. On 3 April, the heavily injured young woman was taken to an emergency hospital, named after Janelidze, where she died without regaining consciousness on the morning of 4 April.
An Azerbaijani diasporic activist in St Petersburg, Orkhan Medjidov, reported that the funeral will take place in St Petersburg today.
The consul general of Azerbaijan in St Petersburg, Sultan Gasimov, confirmed this information. “We received news of the death of Aliyeva today in the early morning. At the moment, our employees are at the hospital,” the Russian service of APA cited Gasimov as saying.
The consul general added that among those wounded in the blast, is one more Azerbaijani national, Zaur Veliyev. His health condition is stable and he remains in hospital.
The April 3 blast in St Petersburg took the lives of 11 people and wounded 45 who were hospitalized.
