The Turkish Prime Minister, Binali Yildirim, will pay an official visit to Georgia today, on 22 May. He will be accompanied by the Turkish Cabinet members.
The Georgian Foreign Minister, Mikheil Janelidze, will meet the Turkish delegation at the airport. An official welcoming ceremony will be held at the Government Administration building on 23 May.
Later on, the Georgian Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and his Turkish counterpart, Binali Yildirim, are expected to hold a face-to-face meeting, followed by a joint news conference. The 2 PMs will meet on the sidelines of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council session. Bilateral cooperation in this format was launched in 2016.
Georgia and Turkey are closely cooperating on a wide range of areas, including energy, education and culture. Turkey is one of the major trading partners of Georgia.
