The number of Ministers in Armenian government to be downsized
The Armenian government has decided to downsize the number of its ministers. This change aims to bring the government structure in line with new constitutional requirements.
Under the constitutional amendments, approved as a result of the 2015 referendum, there shouldn’t be more than three Vice-Premiers and eighteen ministers in the government.
In this regard, it has been decided to abolish the political post of ‘Minister-Chief of Government Staff’ and replace it with the post of ‘Head of Government Staff’.
The post of Minister-Chief of Government Staff was first introduced by Premier Tigran Sargsyan, who currently chairs the Eurasian Economic Commission.
