Unknown scammers in Baku are going to apartments in high-rise buildings and collecting money from people under the pretext of disinfecting it from the coronavirus. The “service” costs 3 manats per apartment [approximately $ 1.7].
“People came wearing some kind of uniform. They sprayed something from spray bottle around, saying that they would disinfect our house from the coronavirus and that we had to pay for it,” reportedone citizen who had already been visited by the scammers.
Ziyaddin Kyazimov, head of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, says that he knows nothing about the situation and that their organization does not carry out any general disinfection.
Kyazimov advises people to ask suspicious “disinfectors” for documents, or even to contact the police.
