Police colonel involved in Yerevan bank robbery
The Yerevan branch of the HSBC bank was robbed today. One bank employee was killed in the incident.
The attacker was reportedly armed with a knife, a grenade and a firearm. The man burst into the bank, stole money and escaped. He was captured shortly after the incident not far from the crime scene.
According to the police report two other individuals, a police officer and a bank employee, were also wounded in the robbery. The law-enforcers say the man resisted arrest, but was quickly brought down and taken to the police department.
The perpetrator was later identified as Daniel Danielyan, Police Colonel and Chief of the ‘Traffic Police Department for Offences Detected Through CCTV Cameras and Photographic Devices’.
An investigation is underway.
The precise amount stolen by the Colonel is unknown.
