Pension age to be raised in Azerbaijan
A bill on introduction of 98 amendments to the Law on Labor Pension has been submitted to Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament). Under the bill, the pension age for all citizens, irrespective of their gender, will be gradually raised to 65 years.

Under the bill, the pension age for men will be annually increased by 6 month starting from 2021, whereas the women’s pension age will be annually increased by 6 months until 2027. Thus, the pension age for both, men and women, will be raised to 65 years.
The bill also provides for annulment of the pension’s base component.
Compensations for Individuals who retired before January 1, 1992 will be paid by the government, whereas those who retired before 2006, will be indemnified by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
- If passed, the bill will take its effect on July 1, 2017.
- The statutory retirement age in Azerbaijan is 63 – for men and 60-for women. The retirement age was set in 2010. Before that, the retirement age made 62 and 57, respectively.
- A minimal pension in Azerbaijan amounts to AZN110 (US$62,80).
