#NBAVOTE Zaza Pachulia-this hashtag has already become a social media trend. It’s been the second year that social media users haven’t been writing anything without this hashtag. Theythus take part in the NBA’ voting, trying to secure a berth at the All-Star Game to Zaza Pachulia, Georgian national basketball team captain and the NBA’s Golden State Warriors player.
All-Star Game is an annual event involving the best NBA players. For the basketball worldthis most important game is a real celebration for basketball fans, since they could observe an unforgettable show. As for the players, taking part in this game is very prestigious for them.
Fans select a participant from the basketball players’ main composition. On social media it could be done as follows: write #NBAVote and then a name of a playerwhom you support.It should be a public post and each user can thus vote once in 24 hours. The voting procedure lasts from December 25 to January 16. The final results of vote will be made public on January 19.
Georgian fans have turned out to be so active that they have even become a subject to the National Basketball Association’s fierce and lively discussions.
The basketball world is surprised at how many supporters the Georgian sportsman has, while there are better players in the NBA than he is.
Last year Pachulia lacked 15,000 votes necessary for participation in the All-Star Game. Whereas this year he stands greater chances.
At first glance Zaza Pachulia seems to bea slow and inflexible basketball player with not that impressive physique. He can’t perform beautiful slam dunks andthe effective attack movements have never been his strong side. His statistics is also discouraging – he scoresthe average of 5,6 points and 5,7 rebounds per game.
However, despite the aforesaid, Zaza is leading and that’s due to the Georgian fans who never miss a chance to vote for him daily.
At first it caused indignation in the U.S. media: some people objected an unusually high number of votes cast for Pachulia, others made Pachulia and the country, in general, a butt of jokes.
Though, many were amused by it and even got involved in Pachulia support campaign. For example,Wyclef Jean, an American rap star, even ‘recorded’ a small song dedicated to Pachulia and uploaded it on the Internet.

Zaza,a big unknown man with funny accent and gestures, who is from an uncertain country, has become a positive character and an example to follow for many.

Many still wonder, whether Pachulia is from the state of Georgia or from a small European country. Some people have thought, he was a Russian basketball player, attributing his support to the Russian hacker attacks.
After all the aforesaid theAmericans are now well-aware who Pachulia is, and most importantly, they have learned that ‘Georgia’is not only the name of the U.S. state, but also that of one of the European countries.
