The opening ceremony of the ‘Zhara (Heat)-2017’ International Music Festival took place in Baku on 27 July.
More than 80 pop music celebrities will entertain the audience with songs and show programs for four nights. The concert participants are mostly representatives of post-Soviet countries. However, there are also some world celebrities among the guests, for example Till Lindemann, a soloist from the German cult band ‘Rammstein’. Among the festival’s renowned guests are: Vakhtang Kikabidze, Alla Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Philip Kirkorov, Nikolay Baskov, Grigory Leps, Dima Bilan, Ani Lorak, as well as bands ‘Serebro’, ‘Potap & Nastya’, ‘A-Studio’ and many others. Polad Bulbuloglu, an Azerbaijani envoy to Russia, will also perform some hits from his repertoire.
The festival will be held in the open air, in the See Breeze recreation area, on the Caspian Sea coast. Emin Agalarov, a Russian businessman and singer of Azerbaijani descent, is the organizer of the event. The minimum ticket price for a standee in the fan zone amounts to AZN 30 (USD 18), whereas the maximum price totals AZN 10 000 (USD 5 880) per VIP table for six persons.
It is the second time that Baku is hosting such an open-air festival. The first ‘Zhara’ festival was held last year and lasted two nights. It brought together over 60 performers and show-business celebrities. Over 3 million viewers watched the festival on AzTV, the 1st national TV channel, and more than 150 million viewers on the Russian 1st TV channel. The festival organizers are hoping to attract a larger audience this year.
