A football museum has opened in the very centre of Baku, in a tent a few steps away from the main entrance to the Old City.
The museum draws attention to the upcoming finals of the European Football League, which will be held in Baku at the end of May. This is the first time that football finals of this level will be held in the Caucasus.
The UEFA Europa League is the second most important tournament for European football clubs, after the UEFA Champions League, and has been conducted since 1971. Chelsea (England), Napoli (Italy), Sevilla (Spain) and other top European teams are among the contenders for the championship this season.
The exhibits reflect the history of the Europa League: the uniforms of football players with autographs, the official ball of the Europa League and the balls used in the final matches of the Europa League.
Entertainment programmes and trivia competitions about football are available to visitors.
In addition, autograph sessions of local and foreign football stars will be held at the museum. During the first session on 23 December, famous Argentine striker Hernan Crespo gave out autographs to his fans.
The museum will operate from 22 December to 7 January. Entry is free.
