On 28 May, Azerbaijan celebrated one of its most important dates – the foundation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), which became the first Soviet and parliamentary republic in the Muslim East.
The ADR existed just for 23 months. The republic collapsed on 28 April 1920, after the 11th Red Army entered Baku.
Azerbaijan is going to mark its 100th anniversary since the foundation of the first Azerbaijan Democratic Republic next year. In this regard, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has signed a decree, ordering the anniversary celebrations to be held at a national level.
