Tbilisi sulfur baths are closing

Tbilisi sulfur baths personnel have rallied against a significant increase in water tariff for GEL 0,71 to GEL0.90. This is the maximum water tariff, introduced in Georgia. Georgian Water Channel Company, that supplies water to Tbilisi, decided to add to the existing tariff the sewage geothermal water purification cost.

The sulfur baths owners say, there should be running water in the baths and thus, they will not be able to afford the new tariff. They insist that Tbilisi City Hall and government officials be involved in discussion of the existing situation.
Otherwise, all the hydrogen sulfide baths in Abanotubani district will be close on March 17.
