25 coronavirus cases in Georgia – three scenarios
On March 12, Georgia confirmed the 25th case of coronavirus. Stopcov.ge reports 295 people are in quarantine.
Head of the Center for Disease Control: “There will be more cases”
Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of the Georgian Disease Control Center, told reporters that a large number of patients should be expected, and the state and the healthcare system should be prepared for this.
Up to 90 percent of hospitals in Georgia are private enterprises, and Gamkrelidze encouraged them to join the fight against coronavirus:
“A pandemic does not know the difference between an individual and a state, we all must act together,” Amiran Gamkrelidze told Imedi TV channel.
Three scenarios developed by the Ministry of Health of Georgia
The first scenario assumes that the number of infected patients will not be too large – but most likely the whole situation will last a long time.
The second scenario: the number of patients will be hundreds of people, and the emergency situation in the country will last up to 12 weeks.
The third scenario is the worst: the number of seriously ill patients will reach 400 people.
Health Minister Yekaterina Tikaradze said that the country has the necessary infrastructure and sufficient medical personnel, ready to work properly in an emergency in any of these scenarios.
