16 people injured in Baku market fire

Sixteen people were injured yesterday in a fire at the Sadarak market on the outskirts of Baku. 

Most of them are firefighters – ten of the injured were hospitalized.

The fire broke out on August 4 in a perfume warehouse and took three hours to extinguish. By that time, 900 square meters of warehouses had burned down along with the goods stored in them. The market place is about 1 square kilometer in size. 

The causes of the fire are not yet known.

This is not the first major fire in the Sadarak market. The last time a fire broke out was in November 2018.

In March 2019, a fire destroyed Diqlas shopping centre.
