Ukraine, following Georgia, is awaiting visa-free regime with the EU

On February 28 embers of the EU, representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission agreed to launch visa liberalization for the Ukrainian citizens.
The information was provided by the representatives of Malta, currently chairing EU, who had taken part in the meeting. Already on March 2 the issue will be on the agenda of the EU members permanent representatives (COREPER) in Brussels.
The document is then to be approved by the European Parliament committee on civil liberties, then voted in the parliament and finally receive formal approval from the European Council.
The talks with Ukraine on visa-free regime started in 2008.
On February 27 the European Council gave final approval for visa-free regime with Georgia. The agreement is to be signed today, March 1 at 14.00 European time.
Citizens of Georgia and Ukraine will be allowed to travel to the EU countries, excluding Britain and Ireland, with their biometrical passports for as long as 90 days in the cause of 180 days without the right to employment.
