Record number of hopefuls register for snap parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

A record number of candidates has been registered to participate in the snap parliamentary elections to be held in Azerbaijan on February 9, 2020.In total, 1,534 candidates will run for 125 seats in parliament.

Theoretically, this number may also increase, since the Central Election Commission will consider complaints and appeals of those who were denied registration until January 24.

For comparison: the number of registered candidates in the parliamentary elections in 2010 was 743, and in 2015 – 768.

Election campaign season began on January 17.
