Tafakkur University has been closed under the Azerbaijani Education Minister’s decree, upon the university administration’s request. The Board of Founders decided to terminate the university’s activity due to financial problems.
The Education Ministry has set up a working group, including the Tafakkur University principal, Rahim Huseynov, that will distribute students to other higher education institutions. It should be done in 2-month time.
A tuition fee at the University ranged from AZN1,000 to AZN3,000 (approximately US$1,500), depending on the faculty.
According to the list available on the Education Ministry’s website, there are 38 state-run and 13 private universities in Azerbaijan.
