Polls for a run-off vote to elect a new parliament are currently underway in Abkhazia.
Overall, 22 single-mandate precincts are involved in the run-off process.
12 MPs were elected as a result of the first round, held on March 12th.
The final 35th MP will be elected in Gudauta as a result of the ballot re-run, scheduled for May 14th, 2017. Leonid Chamagua and Leonid Lakerbaia, a well-known politician who was the head of government from 2011–2014 and former ally to the then-president, Alexander Ankvab, will be competing. Neither of them managed to gain half of the required number of electoral votes during the March 12th election.
