New government’s composition announced in Armenia
The Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, has signed a decree on the re-appointment of acting ministers to their previous posts. The government’s composition hasn’t been changed significantly.
The only minister who has been replaced is Arpine Hovhannisyan, the Armenian Justice Minister, who gained an MP seat as a result of the 2 April parliamentary election and who was elected the National Assembly Vice-Speaker. David Harutyunyan, who served as the Justice Minister from 1998-2007, will replace Hovhannisyan in this post.
Earlier, Karen Karapetyan was approved for the Prime Minister’s post. According to Eduard Sharmazanov, the RPA Spokesperson, the ruling party has decided to let the former government continue its work under the chairmanship of Karen Karapetyan.
Under the Constitution, the Armenian government was dissolved following the first session of the newly elected National Assembly, which was formed as a result of the 2 April parliamentary election.
