A trial on journalist Rauf Mirkadirov’s appeal has finished in Baku-based Court of Appeals.
As Report.az reported, the court, chaired by Judge Abida Abdinbekova, delivered a judgment.
Under the court ruling, Rauf Mirkadirov was given a 5-year suspended sentence.
He was released in a court room.
Rafiga Isayeva, R. Mirgadirov’s mother, told journalists after the trial, her son had some health problems. In her words, he suffered serious headaches.
It is noteworthy that R. Mirgadirov was arrested in Turkey, in 2014. Afterwards he was deported to Azerbaijan. He has been charged under Art. 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Under the verdict of Baku Court of Grave Crimes, the journalist was sentenced to 6 years in prison. R. Mirgadirov filed an appeal.
