Huge explosions took place at an ammunition warehouse close to Siyazan, 120 kilometers north-west of Baku early on 27 August, followed by a fire which resulted from the explosion. The highway connecting Baku with the north of the country was blocked.
The Defense Ministry press service confirmed the information without specifying any number of victims. Trn ambulances were sent to the venue – Miralem Jaladov, the chief doctor of the Healthcare Ministry Emergency Department told the press. He said that the ambulances were denied entrance because of the ongoing fire and explosions. He also acknowledged that there were wounded as a result of the accident.
Residents of the houses in the vicinity have been evacuated.Social media users who witnessed the explosions heard them even on the outskirts of Baku. Black smoke could be seen from afar.
