EU, Armenia conclude talks on Comprehensive and Enhance Partnership Agreement

“The key topic of today’s meeting was the framework agreement between Armenia and the European Union. Today I can say with satisfaction that the sides have completed the negotiations. A new legal document – Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement reflects the real inclusiveness and deepness of Armenia-EU relations,” Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, stated summarizing the meeting with the European Council President, Donald Tusk.
The Armenian side also regards as significant progress signing of programs related to separate spheres of cooperation. In particular, the Horizon 2020 innovation program and the Small and Medium Entrepreneurship (SME) project. The work on the Common Aviation Area Agreement is underway and the joint activities as part of the Creative Europe initiative will be launched in the near future.
Armenian President also believes that the past two years were marked by considerable intensification of the EU-Armenia cooperation: there was an advancement in political dialogue and expansion of cooperation in various spheres:
«We also expect that a dialogue with Armenia on visa liberalization, enshrined in the Joint Declaration of the Eastern Partnership Riga Summit, will be launched soon. It will positively contribute to the expansion and intensification of ties between our nations.”
As part of his working visit to Brussels, Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan, is also expected to meet with other high-rank officials and a group of businessmen from the Armenian community.
