Russian strike on Ukraine: Video from Lviv
Russia launched a mass overnight attack on Ukraine on 30 July, according to Ukrainian authorities, firing a total of 74 missiles and 284 attack drones. Ukraine said its air defences intercepted a significant number of the incoming targets, but some missiles and drones struck their intended targets.
Several regions across Ukraine came under attack, including Lviv, Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In Lviv, one resident was killed. In the village of Radushne, near Kryvyi Rih, a ballistic missile struck the home of a large family. Six people were killed, including three children, while several others were injured.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said the city had suffered direct Russian missile strikes on residential buildings for the first time in a long period.
The heaviest damage was reported on Paton and Vyhovskoho streets, where more than 20 residential buildings, a school, two kindergartens and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.
Rescue workers recovered the body of a man from beneath the rubble.
According to the latest official figures, 34 people, including three children, were injured in the attack on Lviv. Nine people were rescued from damaged buildings. Emergency crews are continuing search and rescue operations and clearing the debris.
Lviv city authorities said some residents whose homes were damaged would be provided with temporary accommodation, while municipal services are assisting those left homeless.
