Graham Phillips, a British blogger and journalist working for Russia Today, broke into the Georgian Embassy in the UK while an exposition dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the 2008 August war was underway.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry reported that he was wielding a video camera, acting aggressively and shouting anti-NATO slogans.
“The embassy called the diplomatic police,” the ministry said. “They showed up shortly thereafter and arrested him. The investigation is ongoing.”
Phillips is well known in Ukraine, where he worked for several years as a Russia Today correspondent. He covered the Euromaidan anti-government protests in the country in 2014 and, later, the developments in Crimea and Donbass. He is known for criticising Euromaidan and saying that ‘Ukraine doesn’t exist as a country any more‘.
While working in Ukraine, he was arrested and deported twice by the country’s security services. In 2016 he was detained in Riga by the Latvian police. In all these cases, he was trying to disrupt different events by hurling pro-Russian slogans.
