An Armenian national took advantage of liberalization of the import of goods from the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) countries and attempted to bypass customs control and import frozen poultry meat instead of wallpaper to Armenia. He entered 22,5tons of wallpaper for customs clearance at the Upper Lars checkpoint. However, later, the Bagratashen customs preclearance division officers noticed that the wallpapers were transported in refrigerator containers. X-ray examination revealed that frozen meat was being imported instead of the building material.
35 cases of violation of the customs rules when importing goods from the EAEU countries were revealed in 2016 and January 2017. The perpetrators mostly attempted to import foodstuffs, household goods, beauty products, car spare parts etc, to the republic either without filling in customs declaration or with inappropriately filled in declarations.
