‘Open rescue’ is a term used to describe animal rights activists who act to save animals from poor living conditions, provide veterinary treatment, etc. A group of Russian activists descended on a poultry farm. The main purpose was to reveal the poor living conditions and cruelty from which domesticated birds suffer. The activists knew they were trespassing, but decided to act openly anyway. “ Hiding your face is like hiding yourself”, one of them said. By symbolically saving some of the birds and documenting the unbearable conditions at the place, the activists wanted to attract public attention to this huge problem.
